Vendor Profile: Glassy-Eyed Beads

It all starts with a ball of hot glass, and with that ball I can create whatever I can imagine. I have been working with hot glass since I was 19 years old. Each piece is made one at a time in the flame of my torch freehand without using molds or presses, so each one comes out unique with it's own spirit.  
My current obsession is with suncatchers and mobiles, but I still keep to my roots with a small line of laid back jewelry, and loose pendants for your own designs.

I have been melting and sculpting glass for 16 years now. My suncatchers, mobiles and pendants are inspired by the whimsy of folk art, the forms of nature and the movement of light through glass.

My inspiration for my glass comes the clean lines of scandinavian glass, the colours and folkart of Mexico and the Maritimes and the play of light in the glass. Each piece is made in the flame of torch one at a time, freehand (no molds), and annealed properly in a kiln.

Spring Market Artisan Profile: Glassy Eyed Beads

Erin has been working with glass since 1999, She began studying glass blowing with Mark Chapman in Palm Springs, CA. While working with Mark she began working with a torch to make glass beads. When she had her children she focused solely on the glass beads and pendants. Her pieces of wearable art have been sold through galleries through out Canada.

Erin Was born in New Brunswick, but grew up mainly in the Muskoka area of Ontario. Both her parents were involved in the fine craft community in Ontario. Erin grew working at craft shows with her parents, and experimented with many crafts herself. She moved down to California in 1999 with her parents and met her future husband there. Since then, she has set up shop in New Brunswick and now Saskatoon, Sk. Erin currently sells at local craft shows and in a few shops in Canada.
