 but you will likely remember Kristin from our Winter Wonders market last December.

 

 

Hello!! We are Carey and Kristin, sister in laws that share a love for crafting and suporting local and handmade products. Kristin is a crocheter and knitter that has been designing her own work for 4 years now.  Kristin gets inspiration off her friends who will ask her to create an item for them that is unique.  She loves seeing people around Saskatoon wearing her designs. Carey has been sewing for 6 years and has experience selling her items in local galleries.  She is inspired by old items that can be taken apart and sewn into something new and unique.  You can find Carey at any local craft show and art show supporting her fellow  artists friends.  Together we will have a unique blend of items that are made as a hobby, purely to allow us to be part of such an awesome movement of offering local, handmade products in our great city of Saskatoon,  and being surrounded by amazing,talented artist and the even cooler people who are buying it.    Love K&C

I have an intense love for the natural world - landscapes untouched by human presence, specifically the Boreal forest, the larger than life skies and the wild grasslands of Saskatchewan. I am a proud prairie girl and I love to paint, both in my studio space at St. George Artists' Studio and en plein air, immersed in the landscape I love. Although I aim to be representational, my goal is not precise realism, but rather to create a collection of marks that express how I see and feel the subject in that moment. I am increasingly interested in patterns, rhythm and light and I whole-heartedly embrace colour as a source of joy in my work.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Like a Fox Creations

I love fabrics and combining new and old in interesting ways. I started sewing handbags and wallets for friends and family to fund raise for a children's home I was involved with in South Africa in 2005 and have continued since then experimenting with different ideas and patterns, always donating the proceeds of my hobby to one charity or another. Some of my fabrics are brought back with me from my travels to various countries, some are repurposed vintage clothing or linens. Turning something discarded into something new, beautiful, and functional strikes me as a great representation of the way God works in the lives of the people these crafts.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Blow In the Dark Glassworks

 

 

Classically trained in the art of glassblowing, Keith Walker’s glass practice began at Glass Happens Studio in Edmonton, AB. Since then, further experience was gained by volunteering at the Pilchuck Glass School (Washington); attending a summer course at the Pittsburgh Glass Centre and collaborating with other local artists on various projects. Keith has had the opportunity to be included in group showings of new work and also held solo displays of glass work, he is mainly represented by The Alberta Craft Council in Edmonton.

His work has always had a strong emphasis on form and has been heavily rooted in the sculptural non-functional path.” I wish to create pieces that command a real presence to the viewer and evoke personality, I continue to challenge myself with the technical complexities of glass and explore glass as an installation medium”.

Most recently, Keith has become one of the lead artists at the Nina Haggerty Centre in Edmonton working with disabled adults in the flat glass studio.

Blow In the Dark Glassworks is a licensed facility within the city of Edmonton and it is where Keith teaches beginners how to blow glass as well as creating his own work.

BasementLeatherCo. was created by accident with no intention of selling anything. I tried my hand at making a leather wallet out of basic need. I guess i just enjoyed it too much. My inspiration comes from the constant hummmm of my wife's sewing machine and air compressor. Shes a "worker Bee" for sure. Her enthusiasm and creativity is contageous. But i guess handmade things by creative people is always inspiring. Shes a "Worker Bee" for sure.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Pirate Polish

Pirate Polish is 100% designed, crafted, and bottled in Saskatoon; I strive to create totally unique nail lacquer that is unlike anything you might find at a drugstore or a salon. Several of my lacquers are pirate-themed, although my inspiration also stems from other sources, such as references to popular culture, in addition to some of my more unconventional creations inspired by food (such as my "Borsch" nail polish). I also create custom bottles of lacquer for people who desire a particular shade or type of glitter in their nail polish.
