My name is Della and I am a do-it-your-selfer.  I started making soap about 21 years ago when we moved to the country on a quest of self sufficiency, and making soap was on the list.
I am inspired by nature and often try to translate this in my products, I have a soap that represents the beautiful Boreal Forest of Saskatchewan of where I get to live.  I love color, texture and aromas of which I incorporate into soap as well. 

I love soap, I've been making it since I was a small girl helping my grandma make her yearly washing bars.  I work at home, and have been operating Hempen Stuff soaps with my sweetie Mark for over 10 years, we both love it and it allows to stay at home with all our fabulous fur and feathers friends.

My products are all made from scratch by my hands alone and I also design and print all our own packaging. We feature Saskatchewan grown Hemp and Canola oil in all of our soaps.  Three years ago we added pure soy wax candles to our line to compliment some of our candles.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Erika Folnovic Designs

I am in my last year at the University of Regina, working towards an Arts Education degree and a BA in Visual Arts. My business grew out of a project I created for a university class. After interest from friends, classmates, and family, I was approached by a local business to sell my product. Starting from earrings, I have expanded my business to include necklaces, pins, and illustration/design work. The best part about my products is knowing that I made each piece with my own hands for you to own. It feels special to know and meet the people who create your work. I currently don't sell any products in store but do so through arts festivals/markets/shows so I meet the people I am selling my work to. My work is therapy for me during the stress of university. Nothing feels better to me than sitting down and making something. I feel I create a unique brand of products and look forward to an opportunity to sell my work to the people of Saskatoon (as I haven't ventured out of Regina, yet!).

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Coucou Salut

 

coucou salut was created in 2009 by me, Shannon Adolph, as a way to combine my love of illustration, pattern, and screen printing. I'm inspired by the world around me, and try to avoid being overly literal when I illustrate and design. This results in circles that aren’t perfectly round and squares that aren’t always square. My designs are accessible because I leave room for imagination to take over! My textiles are printed with a gender-neutral color palette, so they can always be passed down - and around - to the next little kiddos in line. I know that parents are important too, so everything I create is carefully designed and constructed, and in keeping with my sustainable ethos, hand-pulled in small runs using water-based dyes and sustainable fabrics. I believe in supporting my community, and source everything I can from local or Canadian-based suppliers. Thanks for your time!

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Sidewise Designs

 My name is Dj Siminoff and I never leave the house without a hat. Saskatchewan weather is very unpredictable, so you never know when you might need protection from the elements, right? As a designer, all of my bags are created with the same sense of practicality... and a steadfast refusal to sew curved lines! I've been sewing since I was too little to use the grown-up scissors, and designing and selling my own bags for over 4 years.

Months of planning, preparation and prototypes has lead to the launch of Sidewise Designs, a new line of bags that is the perfect balance between my perfectionist tendencies and my uncontrollable creativity.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Just Sewing

Natasha Just of "just sewing" began playing with fabric on her grandmother's vintage sewing machine when she was a little girl and still uses this machine today.  For ten years she has been passionate about quilting, combining inspiring fabrics in both traditional and modern patterns.  After becoming a mother, she started sewing unique baby blankets and is now also creating smaller items with remnant fabric.  As a minimalist, finding creative ways to minimize unused material is one of the most challenging joys of her business.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Natalie Gerber

NATALIE GERBER began her studies in 1995 at The Natal Technikon, in the Fashion Design program, Durban (South Africa). After immigrating to Canada her interests in textiles and design developed while studying classical tailoring and couture design under Calgary designer Mithè de Fontenay. Enrolling at the Alberta College of Art & Design, Natalie earned a BFA Degree (with Distinction) in Fibre/Textiles in 2003, and later in 2007, a post-graduate Certificate in Creative Pattern Cutting for the Fashion Industry, from the London College of Fashion in London (England).

Natalie currently maintains a full time studio practice in Calgary and is represented in boutiques and galleries across Canada.
