I've always loved making things, says joel kroeker, proprietor of burntwood makery, "whether it's bread, toques, songs, or spoons." Growing up the oldest of four imaginative & energetic brothers, joel was always encouraged to express that creativity.
Joel works at The Night Oven Bakery in Saskatoon & lives in the Buena Vista area with his partner, Heather, & their five-month-old daughter, Rehema.
Saskatchewan-based burntwood makery currently focuses on crafting wooden utensils for cooking and eating. Burntwood utensils are hand-shaped from reclaimed and found woods of North American origin. The one-of-kind pyrographic designs and sculptural aspects of each piece are intended to celebrate and elevate the joy of using these everyday tools.
