Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Dear Pony

In 2007, Tracy Fillion began a self-guided study in silk-screening and sewing. After developing her pattern drafting and technical skills at Kootenay School of the Arts, she launched her Dear Pony clothing line in 2008.

My work is inspired by the subtleties found in nature, salvaged objects and contemporary themes, I love to experiment with textural contrasts in surface design, natural dyeing, quilting and screen-printing. My intent is to create work that is highly functional, refreshing and thoughtful.

I currently maintain a full-time studio practice at home in Nelson, BC. Dear Pony can be found online (dearpony.com) and in galleries and boutiques across North America.

A few more pics and a massive THANK YOU!!!

What a weekend! In a a whirlwind of handmade excellence the flock & gather Winter Wonders Handmade Market has come and gone. Hours of volunteer work well spent, satisfied customers, happy vendors, and an ecstatic yet exhausted flock & gather crew. Many many thanks to everyone who participated and made this event incredible. And a special thanks to all of the lovely husbands of the f & g crew, who not only put up with months of neglect due to all the volunteer hours we all put in to pull this together, but also because of their hard work at the show and behind the scenes.

Here's a few more pics from the market on saturday, including a few booths that got accidentally overlooked in Friday's epic post.

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile - Dear Pony

Here at flock & gather we like to showcase the best of the best of the local community (because really there is some amazing stuff going on here in Saskatoon and on the prairies!). But we do like to spice it up with a few traveling wonders. And so winning the prize for the longest distance traveled to be a part of Winter Wonders Handmade Market is the lovely Tracey of Dear Pony - coming to you all the way from Nelson BC!

In her words:
"I live on top of a hill surrounded by the forest.
Being surrounded by nature on a daily basis I have to admit I find my inspiration in design blogs and trips to cities. I need that balance. My favourite things in life are snowboarding, hiking with my dogs, reading a book on a tropical beach with the love of my life and flying somewhere far away where millions of people live amongst concrete.
I love to sew, garden and recently discovered I also love to work with clay.
I also love delicious dinners and wine.
I make everything my self using natural and organic as much as possible."
