Vendor Profile: Studio Sparkes

Raised in the prairies and captivated by the sea and mountains, designer Jody Sparkes crafts each piece of jewellery herself in her home studio in Squamish, British Columbia. Drawing inspiration from worldly textiles, her natural surroundings and soulful bohemian charm, Jody’s designs are gracefully free-spirited and uniquely sophisticated.

As a child, she learned the traditional art of beadwork in a small community in Northern Saskatchewan. Using her fine arts and graphic design background, Jody has fused this gift with the elements and principals of design in making her jewellery. Each piece is skillfully handcrafted with great attention to detail, creating a radiant collection that explores color and pattern with polished precision. Using high quality seed beads, diverse metal trimmings, and carefully selected semi-precious stones, her intricate patterns are delicately expressed through her fingertips.

Jody’s jewellery is for the creative, connected and elegantly wild. She designs for the sincerely sensitive who love their friends like their sisters, for the quietly fierce who wish upon the stars, and for those in search of lightweight and versatile pieces that are easily paired with anything from jeans and a t-shirt to an evening dress.

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Lila and Co.

I love travel, the beach and things that sparkle. My work is a reflection of these inspirational elements drawing colour, nature and beauty into a piece of art that someone can cherish forever. I love items with meaning, intention and magic within them; most importantly each design is made with LOVE!

I'm an avid horse-back rider, wanna be ballerina, I drink wine on Wednesdays and eat chocolate for breakfast on Sundays.

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor: Say Hi To Daffodil

The spark of Say Hi To Daffodil first fire-worked in the fabulous prairie skies of Saskatchewan. As a child in small northern communities, I first learned the traditional art of bead work. Carrying this creative passion throughout the years led me to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts, as well as further education in Graphic Design.

Throughout my adventures, I became fascinated with how travel and small spaces influence the act of creating. From living in a tiny apartment in South Korea, to a sailboat on the west coast of BC, I experimented with ways my art could evolve while being physically confined. Stringing semi-precious stones and beads on wire and string provided the perfect channel for exploration.

Say Hi To Daffodil is the evolution of my drawings and doodles into the intricate art of ornamentation. With a love for the earth's colorful palette and changing seasons, my unique patterns echo the whimsical world, delicately digested and filtered through my fingertips.
