Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Carole Epp

Within the whirlwind of a busy life with two young children, my functional ceramics have evolved from a past of formal inquiries and technical explorations towards more contemporary narrative representations and whimsy. From books and their elaborate illustrative art, to my children’s drawings and imaginations I find inspiration all around me. The reward of this work for me is that young and old find happiness though the work and its engagement with nostalgia and familiar imagery.

I'm looking forward to another amazing weekend at flock & gather and am thankful to be a part of the collective that makes these events happen. I'm most thankful though to the community here in Saskatoon that has been so supportive in their embrace of the handmade and the value in supporting local makers.

See you Friday!

xoxo

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Boolah Baguette

I believe in good toys. Ones that are made with love and soft fluffy fabrics, and ones that, certainly, aren't just meant for kids. I think, no - i know, that seeing cute things can make you happier, and that polka dots, stripes, and plaid are the perfect combination. I love making house-trained little animals and button-nose little dolls and getting to put my imagination (which runs non.stop) to good use.
Come and see my selection of new dolls, children's undies, and other plush goodies. As always, thank you so very much for supporting handmade!

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Cathy Terepocki Ceramics

Since graduating from Alberta College of Art and Design in 2004 I have been working full-time as a ceramic artist, selling work through shops and galleries throughout Canada.

Recently I have been making work that brings together different materials, wood, leather etc. and combining it with clay components to make unique one-of-kind pieces. They are inspired in part by handicrafts of the 60's and 70's and also my love for finding old, previously used or interesting objects and giving them a new life in an art object.

After a wonderful four year stint on the prairies, I'm now living in a Yarrow, British Colombia with my husband and three children.

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Naturally Pure

It all started with a desire for simple, handcrafted homemade soap, you know, the kind that isn't made of ingredients you can't pronounce. I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 and I started making my own bath and body products that was safe for my family. What started as a need for us, quickly became a favourite for many of our friends and their families! Also as an aspiring singer/song writer, creativity is no stranger, and it reflects in the care that I weave natural ingredients and essential oils that make up Naturally Pure.

Drawing on centuries of innovation in woodworking, Oleson Woodshop combines the traditional techniques of this time honoured craft with modern design and utility. Each new project brings with it a host of unsolved riddles, nuances, and obstacles, but that's what keeps us coming back. Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: coucou salut

coucou salut is a Montreal-based business that acts as an outlet to combine my love of illustration, pattern, and screen printing.

My goal is to make you smile! My circles aren’t perfectly round and my squares aren’t always square. I strive to create fun, goofy, and accessible textiles that both a child and a parent can love, in the form of apparel and soft home furnishings.

I choose to work with a gender-neutral color palette so that my designs have longevity. I want them to be cherished so they can be kept for generations and passed down to the next little one in line.

Everything I create is carefully designed and constructed, and in keeping with my sustainable ethos, hand-pulled in small runs using water-based dyes and sustainable fabrics. I strongly believe in supporting my community, and source everything I can from local or Canadian-based suppliers.

Thanks!
Shannon

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Dear Pony

In 2007, Tracy Fillion began a self-guided study in silk-screening and sewing. After developing her pattern drafting and technical skills at Kootenay School of the Arts, she launched her Dear Pony clothing line in 2008.

My work is inspired by the subtleties found in nature, salvaged objects and contemporary themes, I love to experiment with textural contrasts in surface design, natural dyeing, quilting and screen-printing. My intent is to create work that is highly functional, refreshing and thoughtful.

I currently maintain a full-time studio practice at home in Nelson, BC. Dear Pony can be found online (dearpony.com) and in galleries and boutiques across North America.
