Call for Vendors - Winter Wonders Handmade Market

flock and gather craft collective is currently accepting applications for the Winter Wonders Handmade Market 2017.

When and where is the market?
St. Joseph's Parish Hall, 1006 Broadway Ave., Saskatoon SK
Friday December 1 (4:30pm – 9:30pm) and Saturday December 2 (10:00am – 5:00pm)

Jury Process
The markets are juried to help ensure that there is a good mix of products and vendors, both new and returning, local and regional. We aim to keep each show unique and fresh. Each application is reviewed for craftsmanship, creativity, originality, type of craft, and product fit. For a detailed description of the jurying process please see the FAQ’s on the blog. Please note that all work must be original and handmade by the artist – kits, importers, or resellers are not acceptable.
How much will it cost me and what do I get?
8' table (8' wide by approximately 4' deep space) - $125
6' table with room for a rack (8' wide by approximately 4' deep space) - $125
4' table (4' wide by approximately 4' deep space) - $75
Kitchen space on Friday - $125
Kitchen space on Saturday - $150
Space for beverage cart (8’ wide by approximately 4’ deep space), cart to be provided by vendor - $125

The maximum height for display features (either on your table or standing) is 7’ if you are located along the outer walls, otherwise the maximum height is 5’6”. Use of the walls behind your space is not permitted. Table and chairs are provided. If you have display items that need special consideration for placement in the hall (for example: a display rack that stands behind your table), you must advise us well in advance of the show. There is no access to wifi or electricity at the tables. The hall has an abundance of windows and natural light. Lighting is not an issue in the hall. We encourage everyone who applies to consider how much space that they will need. If you can rearrange your display or  make due with less space please think about applying for a smaller table. We turn away so many amazing vendors every show. We want to ensure we get as many of you in as possible!
How can I apply to be a Vendor?
Step 1: Follow the link to the online application form, fill out the form, and hit submit.
Step 2: Email 4-6 photos of your work to helloflockandgather@gmail.com. For this email use the subject line Winter Wonders - Your Business Name.  Please send images as reasonable sized JPEG files and please name your photos “Business Name 1”, “Business Name 2”, etc. ***You must send photos for your application to be considered complete. You will receive a confirmation email once your application form AND photos have been received.***

When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is September 19, although we encourage you to apply early.
When can I expect to find out about my application?
All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of their status via email by October 2.

What happens if I am unable to attend?
If for some reason you are unable to attend please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations prior to November 1 will receive a full refund. After this date, table fees will only be refunded at the discretion of the flock and gather.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

vendor profile: Lori Degenstien Designs

Since leaving city life behind four years ago and settling into the blissful calm of rural Saskatchewan, I've finally created the space I need to be able to explore my creativity while raising my three children.

I'm deeply inspired by nature and the beauty of the Saskatchewan prairies. I love spending quiet summer mornings outside with my coffee and crocheting. I'll certainly never get enough of exploring the many back country roads with my camera and three noisy kids piled into the backseat.

I'm usually up late at night after the kids have been put to bed working on various projects. I always feel like there are never quite enough hours in a day...

I currently maintain an Etsy shop as well as supply several boutiques across Canada with my items. I love doing local farmer's markets and local craft shows too.

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile: Oneiro Designs

Oneiro (pronouced oh-nair-oh) comes from the word oneirology which is the study of dreams. Oneiro Designs is a project I've been working on for over a year now and is something I like to do in my spare time. I make handcrafted contemporary dream catchers mostly from recycled materials and have put all my love into each one. I truly believe that each catcher has some sort of power to ward away bad dreams as well as serve as a unique decorative piece. I specialize in custom made dream catchers where my client can literally put anything they could dream up onto a dream catcher to personalize it. A lot of people have heirlooms stuffed in a drawer somewhere and a dream catcher is the perfect way to pay homage to those sacred treasures and put them on display.

My jewelry line was born when I had so many left over pieces of chain from my dream catchers that I couldn't possibly throw them all out. My designs have evolved into a bohemian, edgy, gypsy look that includes body chains, head chains, hand chains, boot jewelry, ear cuffs, and statement necklaces and earrings. My pieces finish off that perfect festival look, great for going out on the town, or add that extra sparkle for an everyday look!

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile: Van Charles Art

The artwork is created from images I've taken while travelling Canada's wonderfully varied landscape, it's backcountry, valleys, prairies and alpine. Our own backyard is one of the most beautiful places on earth, my goal is to share with you these places through my work which will serve as a constant reminder, inspiring you to get out there, appreciate and explore these places yourself. Ultimately this artwork will serve as a reminder of the limited wild space we have left and the importance of protecting these places.

I believe to stand in front of a piece of art should be an experience no less exhilarating than the journey taken to capture that image.

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile: Pirate Polish

Pirate Polish is 100% designed, crafted, and bottled in Saskatoon; I strive to create totally unique nail lacquer that is unlike anything you might find at a drugstore or a salon. Several of my lacquers are pirate-themed, although my inspiration also stems from other sources, such as references to popular culture, in addition to some of my more unconventional creations inspired by food (such as my "Borsch" nail polish). I also create custom bottles of lacquer for people who desire a particular shade or type of glitter in their nail polish.

Bring a little whimsy into your day.

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile: Spineless

SPINELESS
*handmade sketchbooks, journals, photo albums, and other miscellany*

Karen earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Saskatchewan where she focused on painting, drawing and photography.  It was in one of her photography classes where Karen first learned about the process of hand-binding books, and she has been exploring new styles and combinations ever since.  She lives and works in Saskatoon, where by day she is a picture framer and by night she enjoys cutting, gluing and sewing things together.

Combining mostly found and second-hand materials with various other cultural ephemerae, Karen makes things you can use!
