Photo 101 - The ABCs of Photography {Workshop}
The workshop that Maki Fotos put on in her studio was so amazing and inspiring! There were people from all different experience levels and interests - from hobbyists to amateur photographers - and we all learned a ton! I think its safe to say that we'll be taking our DSLRs off of auto from now on. We can't wait to see what else she'll teach us in the rest of her workshops... word on the street is that she'll be putting part 2 of this 3 part series pretty soon - so stay tuned!
In the mean time, check out these pics from the workshop! The treats that Little Bird Patisserie & Cafe provided were absolutely amazing, as per usual. And 3 lucky winners walked away with some handmade goods from Boolah Baguette and Meat Chops Leather Shop.
Maki - you did a fantastic job and we are so proud to be partners with you in these workshops! This group of students left feeling inspired and excited to put what they learned in to practice and to get to know their cameras more! Thank you for all of the work you put in to this!

I travel to record the world as I see it on film, sharing my images in print and home decor format with the hopes to inspire others to live creatively! I edit all of my original images, hand making and assembling all of my art, decor and magnets in my home studio. I believe in creating affordable open edition artwork and offer larger limited pieces for those looking for a unique one of a kind work of art.

This is my life . . . through my lens.
I am a physical therapist by profession, but a "photographer" by passion. Photography is my creative outlet, inherited from my mother, who let me use her old Nikkromat camera when I was a child. I love to take photos. It calms and grounds me. When life gets chaotic, my camera balances me and reminds me to see things for their simple beauty.
All of my images are photographs that I have taken with my Nikon D60 or iPhone and edited on my iPhone. Many of my photographs are from my travels around Canada and to the United States, South Africa, Costa Rica, and Cuba. I prefer minimalistic themes and soft tones. I like to experiment with creative manipulation editing techniques to create more abstract and surreal images.
Last year I took a break from photography and took on the role of a first-time-mom. But, in what little spare time I had, I started to work with jewelry making, creating earrings and necklaces using my images. I am happy to now be able to include jewelry in my product line.
My images can be viewed from my Instagram account (lingbird) or my Facebook Page (@lingbird Art Photography).

To date my body of work narrates an authentic adventure through the Canadian wilderness. Equipped with a backpack and a camera, I travel to the deepest points of the Canadian backcountry to capture images of nature that will later be digitally collaged, applied to hand crafted wooden supports and detailed with acrylic paint.

Since leaving city life behind four years ago and settling into the blissful calm of rural Saskatchewan, I've finally created the space I need to be able to explore my creativity while raising my three children.
I'm deeply inspired by nature and the beauty of the Saskatchewan prairies. I love spending quiet summer mornings outside with my coffee and crocheting. I'll certainly never get enough of exploring the many back country roads with my camera and three noisy kids piled into the backseat.
I'm usually up late at night after the kids have been put to bed working on various projects. I always feel like there are never quite enough hours in a day...
I currently maintain an Etsy shop as well as supply several boutiques across Canada with my items. I love doing local farmer's markets and local craft shows too.
