Winter Wonders Artisan Profile: Plant Terrariums

All of my work focuses on natural materials and allows the viewer to place themselves within the environments I create. It has been my lifelong passion to bring the beauty of the natural world into our living space. We spend a great amount of time and energy within four walls, and a living environment allows us to experience the outdoors when inside.

Each terrarium has been created from a selection of natural materials found within the Alberta landscape. Snapshots of past explorations through the wilderness help inform the final product, however, most of the materials and plants seem to dictate where they fall within the composition.

While the miniature ecosystems are delicate in nature, they are hardy in our homes, requiring just minimal care and natural light. I believe in making these environments accessible and easy to maintain, so that they can be enjoyed for years to come.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: In Gaia's Garden

Retro feel, modern appeal, with natures ideals is the motto of In Gaia's Garden. I am very new to craft shows but have been creating unique gifts, treasures and keepsakes my whole life. I feel that the best tools for crafting have been giving to me by Gaia herself. Nature has so much to offer in shapes, sizes, and textures the possibilities are endless, making most of my crafts one of a kind. I like to work with retro colour palettes, but use modern ideas in shape and saturation of them. Mixing old and new always creates unique looks.

Stroll through my garden on ETSY, to see all the different gifts i do. There are always new ideas blooming.

Spring Market Vendor Profile: Plant – Distinct Terrariums

I have always been an avid gardener / landscaper, and while traveling through Oregon a couple of years ago  I was inspired by the miniature environments or terrariums being created in the area. With excitement and ambition I set out to create my own version using my greenhouse experience, and design education. What started as an experiment, and gifts for friends and family has blossomed (pardon the pun) into several terrarium and plant related products. I am constantly exploring natural environments for inspiration and continually try to bring a piece of the outdoors inside.

Based in Calgary, Alberta we offer a selection of distinct terrariums. All of our terrariums combine vintage and new glass, found materials in the Alberta landscape, tropical and succulent plants, river rocks and native mosses.
