vendore profile: Hinterland Honey

We're pleased to bring you honey from the hinterlands of Saskatoon. This summer, our six hives have enjoyed buzzing about the canola, alfalfa and other natural delights (i.e. the unruly zucchini plants that have over taken the garden...)

We agree with Thoreau that 'beekeeping is like the direction of sunbeams,' and try to approach this hobby with the same sentiment. We hope you enjoy our sweet, (sticky!) honey.

vendor profile: Oneiro

Oneiro (pronounced oh-nair-oh) comes from the word oneirology, which is the study of dreams. My business specializes in handcrafted contemporary dreamcatchers and jewelry, which consists mostly of crystals and chain that can adorn any part of your body. From body chains, headpieces, necklaces to earrings, name a body part and I've made a piece of jewelry for it. My recent obsession with learning the energy powers of different crystals has added another element to my jewelry and my dreamcatchers. Each dreamcatcher is made with found objects, reclaimed materials, antique lace and a whole lot of love. Whether you’re looking for jewelry to create a statement for your outfit, a dreamcatcher to keep above your bed or gift to someone special, it’s a pleasure to see anything I make appreciated as a gift or a personal treat.

vendor profile: Orrnamentation

Orrnamentation creator - Vivian Orr, in-house graphic designer for Saskatchewan Craft Council by day and handcraft maker by night.

My designs are influenced by German and Scandinavian Christmas ornaments and my Asian esthetic. Each one is individually hand made.

This year I want to introduce some new designs featuring mid-century modern motifs. They are just a gleam in my eye but I am very excited by the concept. I am doing design research right now and plan to start prototyping in September.

vendor profile: Something from Nothing

Something From Nothing began as a business based on circumstances, but soon transformed into one based on a lifestyle. Local artisan, Karen Boldt, has always lived a life of frugality, so it is only natural that her creative business took on this same persona. Upon entering several thrift stores in the area, she recognized an abundance of old wool sweaters and the need to find a new use for them. In 2009, she began her venture crafting these cast offs into soft and very warm mittens. These well-loved hand warmers for prairie winters soon made their debut at many trade shows in the area and because of their popularity, are now being made available to anyone with a mailing address through her Etsy shop! Something From Nothing mittens, available in sizes baby, children, and adult small, medium and large, are the perfect combination of eco-friendly materials with a trendy flair. They make great gifts for your shivering friends and relatives.
