Artist Profile: Amy Smith

Amy started knitting/sewing/needlepoint at an early age - around 10 or 11 yrs old. She started crocheting in college and hasn't been able to stop since. She even somehow managed to get her husband on board and he ended up finishing a blanket.

She started making hats for friends' kids and they encouraged her to pursue it (thanks to them for that! These hats are adorable!!!)

Amy likes to combine her desire to be creative with her love for the earth. She uses recycled and reused materials in her designs in an effort to make pretty things without creating more waste. If she needs to buy supplies she prefers to use organic and sustainable materials.

She finds inspiration from a number of sources including her lovely daughter who inspired her to make small things, being that she was a preemie and there was not much out there that fit her. Expect to find many lovely baby gifts when visiting Amy at the market.

Find out more about Amy on her blog.
