Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Clair Ashley Jewelry

I live in the prairies but I'm dreaming of the sea….

I'm a girl from the prairies whose inspirations are sea and sky. Our skies are like oceans, vast and beautifully blue. With a love for water and words, I make nautical jewelry & message jewelry.
Hand stamping my designs enables my customers to literally wear their story. Be it a meaningful quote, a memorable event, or a name of someone dear. It allows for a connection with their jewelry piece that transcends time.

I hope you enjoy your piece, as much as I enjoyed making it.

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Little Shop of ElleSee

My name is Laura McDonald. I go by LC McDonald online as my shop name is actually a play on my initials (ElleSee) which was a nickname from my Dad while I was growing up.

I have always been drawn towards art, and started selling my photography and drawings online in a shop on Etsy in March of 2011. Several months after I began my online shop, I stopped selling my photography and started making small greeting cards and art prints.

My work is of a whimsical nature that often includes birds, penguins, cats and food stuffs like cupcakes. A lot of it is inspired by my son and his books, as well as the children that I work with at my daytime job.

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: Burntwood Makery

Joel Kroeker wears many hats, many of them he made himself, most of them knitted. (But that's another story for another time.) One of those hats is spoon carver. (It's an orange & blue one. The hat, that is.) After taking a guitar building course he discovered that his heart & hands liked carving wood. Wanting to make some wooden birthday gifts, he carved a few wooden spoons & burnt some designs on them. It so happened that those people liked them. & he just so happened to like making them. He continues to make everything from the smallest salt spoon to large stir-fry paddles.

Springtime Handmade Market Vendor Profile: MIKIND

MIKIND's studio is located in the sunny Southern Alberta city of Medicine Hat. We produce handmade ceramics objects, from tableware to jewellery that are playful and decorative, drawing inspiration from contemporary graphics, pattern and illustrations. We love to discover all the possibilities that ceramics can offer and create these unique objects for all who are interested in the world of the handmade.

Our unique studio space is located in the Historic Clay District, home to a working museum and international artists-in-residence program. We are so lucky to have our ceramic practice be continually inspired and flourish by the many artists filtering through the studio.

Meet Jenn Demke-Lange:

Originally from Calgary Alberta, Jenn now lives in Medicine Hat with her husband, daughter and their furry creature Belle.
Feeling most at home in her studio, Jenn can be found making and creating with her head down. A graduate from the Alberta College of Art & Design, with a BFA under her belt, she continues her lifelong passion of using her imagination and doodling things she loves.
