Vendor Profile: Three Leaf Apparel

I've been crocheting for almost half my life now but Three Leaf Apparel was officially created in 2011 after the birth of my first child.  She was tiny and she needed some hats and booties that fit her well enough to keep her warm.  (I still have a cut out for the sole of a bootie template that I used for her - it was smaller that a newborn size so I wrote "Hannah size" on it.)  Since then, the business has changed and evolved and now here I am, three kids later, and still loving what I do.  While I mostly crochet, I do have some knit pieces and some that I've sewn.  Always loving a challenge, I generally don't use a pattern to make my items - while it might take a little longer to figure out, it also gives me a great sense of accomplishment to see a picture of something and then allow it to inspire me to create my own.  In an attempt to be able to recreate some of the same items, have several notebooks strewn throughout my house with notes on what I did so that I can remember the pattern and hopefully make a few more!

If you would like to keep up with Three Leaf and my ever changing product, please visit my etsy shop, Facebook and instagram.

Vendor Profile: Just Sewing

I began playing with fabric on my grandmother’s sewing machine when I was a little girl and still use her vintage machine today. For over ten years I have been passionate about quilting--combining fabrics in both traditional and modern patterns. I believe that fabric is inspiring and a powerful design tool. Whether it's a baby blanket in a nursery, a mini quilt hanging on the wall, a cushion on your favourite chair, a tea towel hanging on the oven handle, or a quilt thrown over the back of the couch, fabrics bring life to our homes. I only hope to share my love of fabrics and all that they can create.

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile: Purl Necklace

Hello hello fellow crafters and awesome supporters of all things handmade! My name is Amy Zicker and I am a hand spinner living in Lloydminster. While I began my craft career as a knitter, I have slowly moved away from making wearables to mostly making yarns and knitting kits for others to craft with. For me, it is a guilty pleasure to be a part of other people's creative process; I just love
seeing the unique and beautiful directions my yarns are taken in.

Maybe its because if it was left up to me almost all my yarns would end up as mittens (my favoritest thing to knit). There is more individuality this way – and that’s the beauty of handmade.

Winter Wonders Artisan Profile - Purl Necklace

5 more sleeps until the handmade shopping event of the season!
Well we're down to the last week of artisan profiles but the goods still keep coming, like Purl Necklace who we are thrilled to introduce at the Winter Market, all the way from Lloydminster AB to your home. Cozy knit goods just in time for the winter season.

To me, a good day starts with coffee and a dye pot on the stove. My name is Amy Zicker and I am a fibre artist living in Lloydminster AB. My work involves hand dying, carding, spinning and knitting one-of-a-kind accessories – wearable art.

I enjoy a good alpaca/merino blend and crafting my own knitting patterns. My work can be found on my facebook page 'purl necklace' and my yarns are available for purchase at www.purlnecklace.ca.
